A Lost Factor-Jasmine's Story

Bonus Chapter 6-True Interdimensionalism

The teenage girl sat at her desk, wondering why she'd received the memo. Her standard meetings were always in the common room, not her office. Yet here was the memo, stating that “Medoni Liisuu, I have important matters to discuss concerning the Search and Rescue Division. I will arrive at your office at 2:00 pm. Dr. Ineria Erinin” Medoni sighed; Dr Erinin of the High Command had never completely forgiven her for the incident years ago when she had tried to free the digimon. It wasn't her fault that they were being studied to be sure they weren't affected with any of the X virus and things like that.

She looked at the clock. 1:45pm. It felt like it had been hours ago, not 15 minutes, that she had Silli Alonine, one of the digidestined in her division, watch her Gatomon while she had the meeting; she'd cause too much trouble for Medoni. She turned her computer back on and began working on her research again, once again focusing on the unusual situation between two of the Earth dimensions that had somehow been fused together almost a year ago. Furthermore, the two dimensions had digital worlds that had also been fused together. That in itself was one of the weirdest things ever noted in a lower technological dimension. The two dimensions’ only real interaction with interdimensionalism was when other people came there, and a few incidents that indicated that the two dimensions had holes between them. She flipped through the file on one of the two dimensions. One boy, Ryo Akiyama, had lived in the other dimension before coming here. There were other reported incidents of travel between dimensions, but those were based on testimony from two Digidestined from the other dimension.

She opened the file on the other dimension, looking for the entry on the two kids. She still wasn't sure if the story they said was true. The younger of the two, Pirelli Ticony, had said that a digimon from another dimension, Realemon, with the ability to illusion people and change them, had been the main cause of this. The older one, Brian Treyer, added irrationality to the story by repetitively stating that one of their close friends, Brandy Isis, had willingly been illusioned so she could betray the others, and had helped in causing their friends to lose and probably become illusioned. They had left about 5 or 6 months ago though, with another girl, to hopefully get home. Pirelli had said she'd email the Lerkurlians when they arrived, when she had been thanking Dr. Erinin for letting them try to email some of their friends they thought might still be alive and sane in the dimension. Medoni looked at the file’s copy of the email and the recipients. Two girls, whom Brian had scowled that they thought they were parallel, named Jenni and Jasmine. Medoni could never remember exactly why the names stood out to her, but it did, despite all the research into the many other dimensions she studied on the side besides her standard Digidestined duties.

The office door opened, and Medoni quickly minimized the files on the computer, and stood up besides her desk. She suddenly realized that if this was a proper meeting, she should have combed her short messy violet hair after training, and removed the goggles given to her by her friends as a joke on her Earth dimension studies. She watched the tall, serious woman with short, brown hair, and suspicious eyes. She still wore her white lab coat, an encouraging sign. She'd have worn a uniform if this was that serious of a meeting, despite the large files she carried.

“Dr. Erinin, pleased to see you,” Medoni said, smiling as she typically did, trying once again to hopefully become friends with her.

“Sit. We’ve received an interesting report on the ‘fused’ dimensions.” Dr Erinin ordered in an unenthusiastic voice, sitting in a chair. Medoni obeyed, looking at her curiously. “It appears the dimensions are separate again.”

“Ma'am, wouldn’t that be a good thing?” Medoni asked, glancing at the computer with the files. “I would think that long-term fusion would cause severe problems with defusion if the separate aspects of the world began to blend together.”

“We've been doing studies the last couple hours, once we became aware of the defusion,” Dr. Erinin said, opening one file. “The dimensions appear to have misplaced some of the inhabitants into the wrong worlds.”

“Does that mean you can trace the people there exactly, to know who is in the wrong world?” Medoni asked. “Or locate some of the Digidestined of the two worlds and see if they can assist?”

Dr Erinin sighed, showing clear annoyance at the idea. “Miss Ticony, Miss Maximus, and Mr. Treyer are reported to have returned. Except for specific cases, it’s too difficult to locate the Digidestined or Tamers. The more immediate focus needs to be on the regular people and digimon.”

“Of course, ma'am.” Medoni said, mentally sighing in relief. Those kids could find their friends, they'd all set things right. Perhaps not as well as Lerkurlians would, but all Digidestined in the Earth dimensions had a group determination that made it possible for them to fix anything, eventually.

“In addition to that problem, studies have shown that the digimon causing the most trouble in the digital world right now is similar to the signs of the other dimension conquerors.” Dr Erinin paused, noticing how Medoni had started clicking on things on the computer. “Miss Liisuu, are you even listening to me?” she said in an almost yelling voice.

“Yes ma'am,” Medoni replied, stopping in her sudden search for her computer file on Jamie, a rumored human with three digimon that were taking over dimensions, one by one. “So Miss Ticony’s theory that the digimon Realemon was connected was true?”

“That, we aren't sure of yet. It hasn't even been one day since we could start studying the interior actions and situations of the two Earth dimensions, Liisuu. Stop your games in playing research and focus on your proper duties. We may need to send the remaining Digidestined in your branch to survey and restore the dimension to its proper condition.”

“There aren't enough of us left, ma'am!” Medoni exclaimed, almost jumping out of her seat. “Too many of our Digidestined were sent to the other conquered dimensions; we've yet to hear of them. We're lucky we have few digital problems of our own, but we can't send the last of the children skilled enough for such a difficult task.” She held herself in her seat, aware that she was getting too worked up. Rusty and Ivanick were too valuable in her department, even Silli helped in her childlike manner. The assignment was part of their department's job, but the whole dimensional universe needed help.

“We won’t send anyone yet, and in any case we aren’t sending Miss Alonine, the child is too irresponsible as a Digidestined. The boys will be enough. Explain them the situation and that they are leaving in two weeks. You are staying to help train the other children.”

“Ma'am, why can’t we hope that the Digidestined and Tamers will handle the situation? I was studying the past reports; they’ve handled things on their own before, they must have found a way to defuse the dimensions…”

“No.” Dr. Erinin said, a glare on her face. “It wasn’t a ‘they’, it was one person. Technically, one girl who wasn’t supposed to be there, wasn’t supposed to have anything to do with the Digidestined of another dimension. Wasn’t supposed to get a D-Terminal out of nowhere 4 years ago. Wasn’t supposed to know her parallelism theories were true. You messed things up years ago, Liisuu. This doesn’t make up for it.”

Medoni quivered, remembering the incident. Her class was studying how digidestined were chosen in Earth dimensions, and Medoni was playing with one of the D-Terminals. She wasn't sure what happened, but something with the D-Terminal and the transporting computer, connected to one of the different Earth dimensions, and the D-Terminal disappeared. Medoni managed to trace it to Earth Gamma, the Tamer’s world, where there was a girl that Medoni had been studying. The girl had been studying parallelism, and the D-Terminal ended up sending the girl to Earth Beta, the Digidestined’s world. Most people excused the incident, thinking that there was a computer glitch. Only Dr. Erinin figured out that it was Medoni’s researching into the location of the D-Terminal that caused the D-Terminal to go to that location.

“I didn’t give them D-Porters…” Medoni said after a while. “They began that on their own. Pirelli and Brian both said that the digimon Lunamon had somehow acquired the D-Porters.”

Dr. Erinin stood up and leaned over the desk to stare at Medoni. “The girl wasn't supposed to be involved. None of them should be interdimensionally involved. They deal with their digital problems, we do interdimensional. If they start playing the wrong game, it shall be upon you to fix it.” She stood up, dropped the file on her desk, and stormed out.

Medoni picked up the file, opening it. There were the papers with the orders for the older male Digidestined to go to the dimension. Also in the file was information about the Digidestined of that dimension. Most of it was older papers, pictures, things Medoni had seen long ago. One was a picture of the two parallels both in their teens. Medoni looked at the one with tannish hair in the blue dress, the girl she’d been studying because of their common interdimensional interest. “Jasmine, please keep your friends sane in all this…” she mumbled to herself, then turned off the computer. She had to tell Rusty that once again she had to send him into danger.
